Jake Womersley is dreaming of being part of the Tour de Yorkshire peloton as it breezes past his Mirfield home in April.
The 21-year-old was unveiled as part of BIKE Channel Canyon’s 15-man squad in November.
After a season with Pedal Heaven, he has moved across with sports director Tim Elverson, his assistant Simon Holt and eight of his former team-mates.
And Womersley is delighted to be able to continue his professional development under their stewardship.
He said:
“I am really happy to spend another year under the guidance of Tim and Simon but with the new team BIKE Channel Canyon.
“I like how they work on race day and I am looking forward to experiencing bigger races, such as the Tour de Yorkshire.
“The 2017 route comes past my house, so it would be great to be involved.”
Womersley is the grandson of Brian Robinson, who was the first Briton to finish the Tour de France (1955) and the first to win a stage in 1958 before repeating the feat 12 months later.
Meanwhile his sister, Becky Womersley, rides for leading UK-based UCI women’s team Drops Cycling.
