Dexter Gardias claimed his second top-10 finish of the 2017 An Post Ras as the race cruised into Donegal.
The 26-year-old, from Witney in Oxfordshire, followed up ninth on stage two with 10th on stage six as Yannis Yssaad sprinted to victory for Armee de Terre.
Stage one winner Nicolai Nielsen, of Riwal Platform, and Delta Cycling Rotterdam’s Dennis Bakker, who leads the points classification, completed the podium places.
Meanwhile, JLT Condor’s James Gullen retained the leaders’ jersey following the 132.1km stage, which started in Dungloe.
A leading group of 32 riders contested the finale after the day’s seven categorised climbs had failed to break the race up as expected.
Wind had caused splits during the early skirmishes but they were not significant enough to shake up the overall standings.
Gardias was the only BIKE Channel Canyon man to make the selection, though, and subsequently rose to 22nd place in the general classification, 13.31 down on Gullen.
He also scooped a few points in the mountains classification, however, An Post Chain Reaction’s Przemysław Kasperkiewicz has a firm grasp on that jersey with two stages remaining.
Alex Richardson finished the stage 22.57 behind Yssaad, while George Atkins and Mitchell Webber crossed the line in the peloton at 25.10. Click here for the full result.
