Harry Tanfield finished third as Canyon Eisberg were also third overall in round two of the Tour Series in Motherwell.
JLT Condor’s Matt Gibson claimed the individual win from Rich Handley, of Madison Genesis, and Tanfield as the trio finished well clear of the field.
A four-man chase group, featuring Andrew Tennant in sixth spot, then crossed the line ahead of the main bunch.
Madison took the team win – and leaders’ jerseys – from JLT, while Tanfield, Tennant and the remainder of Tim Elverson’s squad did enough for a second successive third position.
However, James Lowsley-Williams had to surrender the red Eisberg sprints jersey he won in Redditch last Thursday to round winner Gibson.
The three-man breakaway escaped in the early skirmishes, with Tanfield joined by Gibson and Handley.
And the trio had built up a lead of 30 seconds before the opening sprint of the evening on Motherwell’s Hamilton Road.
Gibson took it ahead of Tanfield and Handley but an interesting sub-plot was developing in the peloton.
Scott led jersey holder Lowsley-Williams across the line to join the Canyon Eisberg man at the top of the sprint standings.
By the second prime, the breakaway had extended their advantage to 50 seconds. And once more Gibson took maximum points, this time from Handley.
Back in the pack, Scott again got his nose in front of Lowsley-Williams to edge ahead in the sprints classification.
With 24 laps and 35 minutes of racing in the legs, the escape group had eked their lead out to one minute.
Gibson took the final intermediate sprint of the night ahead of Tanfield, with Handley in third spot as the trio looked set fair to contest the individual win.
Scott again headed the chasing pack when they crossed the line to briefly put himself in pole position in the competition.
But now the focus was on the peloton where the scrap for crucial seconds was going to determine the team victory.
Tennant jumped off the front alongside JLT’s Ian Bibby, Madison rider Johnny McEvoy and Karol Domagalski, of ONE Pro Cycling.
The quartet still trailed the leaders by a minute but had crucially established a 10-second gap on the main bunch when the five laps to go board went up.
McEvoy finished fourth, Domagalski fifth, Tennant sixth and Bibby seventh before the much-reduced bunch hit the line soon after.
Lowsley-Williams and Jack Pullar were 14th and 15th respectively, while Charlie Tanfield crossed the line in 25th.
Madison and JLT both have 19 points after the opening two rounds of the series, with Canyon Eisberg third on 16.
Highlights will be screened on ITV4 at 5.40pm on Thursday before round three kicks off in Aberdeen later that evening (7.30pm).
