Harry Tanfield produced a powerful ride to finish ninth in the UCI 1.2 Memorial Philippe van Coningsloo in Belgium.
The 22-year-old, who was 10th in the Ronde van Overijssel last month, bridged to the day’s breakaway with a chase group before contesting the bunch kick in Bonheiden.
Yves Coolen clinched glory for Home Solution – Anmapa – Soenens with Tanfield crossing the line just a few bike lengths adrift in a front group of 31.
Stijen de Bock, of Cibel Cebon, and British rider Ross Lamb, from Belgium’s United Cycling Team, joined Coolen on the podium.
Earlier, Matt Nowell and Rory Townsend had made it into the break but cramp and a crash put paid to their respective chances.
Tim Elverson’s squad have now recorded eight top-10 finishes in UCI Europe Tour contests since making their debut this season.
When the race set off from Wavre, Nowell got into an early eight-man move, which soon swelled to 20 as a group, including Townsend, bridged across.
Slowly but surely the breakaway began building their lead but BIKE Channel Canyon suffered a blow when Townsend hit the deck with 107km remaining.
The crash, which came with the leaders enjoying an advantage of 1min 15sec, put paid to the Spring Cup champion’s race, although fears of serious injury were quickly allayed.
The remaining 19 continued, growing their lead to almost three minutes before a chase group jumped off the front of the bunch where the team were prominent all day.
Tanfield was among those in pursuit. It took a while to establish, with only 15 seconds separating them and the peloton with 50km remaining.
But they soon managed to make it stick and cut the deficit, closing to within 80 seconds with 30km to go, with the main group at 2.57.
There were now signs of nerves in the breakaway, with the trio of Lotto Soudal under-23 riders among those getting restless.
Nowell’s challenge was over when he suffered cramp with little over 10km to go and the Cheshire rider beat a swift retreat from the front group.
Tanfield and the chasers had closed to within 30 seconds now, though, with the BIKE Channel Canyon man taking his chance to solo across the gap.
He made it with around 5km to go before both groups merged inside the final 3km, setting up a 31-man bunch sprint for the line.
Nowell finished ahead of the peloton in 37th place at 2.48, while Jake Womersley (52nd), Sam Lowe (82nd) and Joe Fry (107th) all came home in the main group. Click here for the full result.
