Matt Nowell has declared himself fit for round three of the Tour Series in his hometown of Northwich tonight (7.30pm).
The 20-year-old’s participation was thrown into doubt when he was involved in a big crash on the penultimate lap of last night’s race in Stoke.
Nowell, who studies at Sheffield Hallam University and hails from the Weaver Valley club, suffered bruising to his lower back and minor road rash.
A decision on whether he would race was delayed until this morning, allowing him time to rest and the extent of his injuries to become clear.
And the good news is Nowell will be on the grid when the Tour Series peloton rolls out in familiar surroundings this evening.
He is joined in the BIKE Channel Canyon line-up by Chris Opie, who won the opening round in Redditch and was fourth last night, Jack Pullar, Harry Tanfield and George Atkins, who makes his maiden appearance in this year’s series.
